Challenging Behaviour – Children

COURSE OVERVIEW

Children and young people may display anti-social behaviours, which are the visible signs of deep hurt, anger or frustration with aspects of their lives. When behaviour becomes so difficult that it affects a Childs development, it can be known as a conduct disorder. Teenagers with conduct disorder may become involved in criminal activity, be excluded from schools, families and society.

This course aims to provide the delegates with a greater understanding of the nature of challenging behaviour to help them deal more effectively with this type of difficulty in their work

COURSE CONTENT

• The concept of antisocial behaviour and the range of diagnostic criteria in this area
• Parental, school and environmental factors which impact upon antisocial behaviour
• Links between challenging behaviours and classic mental health difficulties demonstrating themselves in deliberate self-harm, para
  suicide and delinquency
• Characteristics of attention deficit disorder and the treatment implications
