This course will give delegates a broad understanding of Attachment Theory by explaining the key elements of the theory including,
Definition of Attachment
The relationship between early Attachments and relationships.
What research says about different types, including avoidant, secure and ambivalent attachments.
Understand the impact of separation, loss, abuse and neglect on children’s development and their capacity to form attachments.
Use an attachment perspective to enhance child-parent/carer relationships. For those working in childcare services, an awareness of the issues relating to attachment can help build relationships and enhance the caring relationship.
The course aims to enable staff to use attachment theories to improve their relationships with young people and provide a better service.
This can prove valuable in giving staff an insight into supporting parents/carers to understand how to build relationships with children when there has been a break in the relationship for a range of reasons.
Service users can benefit from an awareness of attachment and how to ‘build bridges’
