Awareness of Depression & Anxiety
COURSE OVERVIEW
This session will look at the incidence of depression as the commonest mental illness experienced worldwide.
Delegates will develop a clearer understanding of symptoms and characteristics of depression and look closely at the latest research around causes and treatment.
This will enable delegates to explore their own experiences of working with people with depression and support individuals to develop strategies to manage their condition.
Alongside this, anxiety is closely linked to depression and many people will experience symptoms of both. The course will enable delegates to identify the normal reactions to anxiety and the extremes experienced by those considered to have anxiety disorders.
The session will look at definitions of phobias, obsessions and obsessive-compulsive disorders, and panic disorders. Delegates will be aware of treatments and self-help techniques.
