Life Story Work

COURSE OVERVIEW

This course will equip workers with the knowledge and skills to effectively carry out “life story” work with children. The training includes an introduction to life story work as well as exploring; safeguarding, data protection, confidentiality, current legislation, guidelines and standards.

COURSE CONTENT

• How to plan and prepare for life story work
• How to communicate and engage with the child
• Mindful awareness of ethical constraints, safeguarding, confidentiality, informed consent, dignity and respect
• How to make children make sense of their past and their present circumstances
• Risk assessment and safeguarding children and young people
• Understanding company policy and procedure guidelines
