Signing, Lighting & Guarding

1 Day for a maximum of 6 delegates

Prior to attending the training delegates should have studied the ‘Safety at Streetworks & Roadworks’ a code of practice booklet.

COURSE CONTENT

• Health & Safety – a quick overview
• New Road and Streetwork Acts 1991 and ACOP
• Chapter 8 of the DOT traffic signs manual
• Basic principals for safe street works
• Site layout, equipment needed, sign lighting and reflectorisation
• Traffic control, footways, 2 lane single carriageway, dual carriageway
• Working near pedestrian crossings, road junctions, level crossings and roundabouts
• Short multi-choice test

ON-SITE RESOURCES

• A room for the use of audio/visual equipment and for the exam
• Activities to take place on-site or a realistic simulated site
• A full set of temporary signing and guarding for works on a road or footway
• 2 x Roadwork’s, 2 x End, 2 x Road Narrows, 2 x Keep Left/Right, 4 x Barrier Cones, 8 x Rails, 24 Cones, 1 x Stop and Go and Temporary Traffic Signals
