Wood Chippers
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is suitable for persons inexperienced in the use of wood chipping machinery. The course is physical in nature. Trainees must have a good level of general fitness and stamina. Medical conditions must be reported to the course organiser prior to commencement. Some medical conditions may disqualify prospective trainees.
COURSE CONTENT
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and clothing
- Pre-use checks. Requirements for inspection, storage and transport of Wood chipping machinery
- Identification and control of potential hazards including weather conditions, timber condition, foreign matter content (i.e. metal, rope), overhead power lines and cables, ground features, public access and roadside working
- Selection of safe working areas in particular machine positioning in relation to the material to be chipped, local terrain, pedestrian and vehicular access
- Techniques for safe and efficient handling
- Safe and efficient disposal of arising’s
